Job summary

Compnow is seeking a Systems Engineer to join our Adelaide team, supporting a Defence client. This full-time, on-site role focuses on maintaining and securing critical infrastructure, ensuring reliability and high-quality customer outcomes in a highly regulated environment.

Ideal candidates will have strong Windows and Linux server experience, Defence security familiarity, and excellent documentation and stakeholder communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Administer, maintain, and support Linux and Windows Server environments to ensure availability, performance, and reliability of critical infrastructure services.
• Perform day-to-day infrastructure operations across server, storage, and associated platforms, proactively monitoring and resolving issues to minimise service disruption.
• Troubleshoot and resolve complex technical incidents, conducting root cause analysis and implementing preventative measures to improve system stability.
• Ensure all activities are performed in accordance with Defence security requirements, operational standards, and established governance processes.
• Create and maintain high-quality technical documentation, operational procedures, and support artefacts to meet compliance and operational requirements.

What you’ll do?

We are seeking a Systems Engineer to join our team supporting a key Defence client based in Adelaide. Working full-time on-site within a secure environment, you will be responsible for maintaining and supporting critical infrastructure platforms, ensuring system reliability, operational excellence, and exceptional customer outcomes. This role is ideal for an experienced infrastructure professional who enjoys troubleshooting complex technical issues, developing operational processes, and working within highly regulated environments.

• Administer, maintain, and support Linux and Windows Server environments to ensure the availability, performance, and reliability of critical infrastructure services.
• Perform day-to-day infrastructure operations across server, storage, and associated platforms, proactively monitoring and resolving issues to minimise service disruption.

What you’ll bring?

• Demonstrated experience in Systems Administration, Systems Engineeror a similar role.
• Strong Windows and Linux Server administration and maintenance experience.
• Familiarity with Defence security and operational requirements.
• Strong documentation and process development capabilities.
• Excellent stakeholder engagement and communication skills

What else do you need to apply?

• Ability to work full-time on-site at a Defence client location in Adelaide.
• Hold an active NV 1 Security Clearance at the time of application.
• Must be an Australian resident available to work full time without restrictions.
