Job summary

Whizdom in Canberra is seeking an experienced Windows Systems Integration Specialist to design, build, and test secure Windows‑based systems. You will work with engineering, security and technical teams to deliver reliable, compliant solutions in a highly regulated environment.

Qualifications

  • Proven experience with Windows Server and desktop environments.
  • Strong configuration, management and troubleshooting skills for Windows.
  • Hands-on with Active Directory, Group Policy and Defender.
  • Experience implementing secure system configurations and hardening controls.
  • Knowledge of Windows networking, authentication and services.
  • Familiarity with security frameworks (ISM, NIST, CIS Benchmarks, STIGs).
  • Strong analytical and problem‑solving abilities.
  • Ability to produce technical docs and build guides.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication; ability to work with technical and non‑technical stakeholders.

Responsibilities

  • Build, configure and maintain Windows server/workstation environments.
  • Administer Active Directory, Group Policy and Windows security controls.
  • Implement system hardening and baseline configurations.
  • Apply operating system updates, patches and changes.
  • Troubleshoot software, system and integration issues.

  • Integrate Windows with network, security and apps components.
  • Develop automated and repeatable system build processes.
  • Produce technical documentation and configuration guides.

About the Role

An exciting opportunity exists for an experienced Windows Systems Integration Specialist to join a highly skilled technical team based in Canberra.

In this permanent position, you will be responsible for the design, build, configuration, security hardening and testing of Windows-based systems. Working closely with engineering, security and technical teams, you will deliver secure, reliable and supportable solutions that meet operational and security requirements.

Key responsibilities include:
  • Building, configuring and maintaining Windows server and workstation environments
  • Administering Active Directory, Group Policy and Windows security controls
  • Implementing system hardening and security baseline configurations
  • Applying operating system updates, patches and configuration changes
  • Troubleshooting software, system and integration issues
  • Supporting testing, quality assurance and compliance activities
  • Integrating Windows platforms with network, security and application components
  • Developing automated and repeatable system build processes
  • Producing technical documentation, procedures and configuration guides
  • Collaborating with technical teams and stakeholders to deliver successful outcomes
The Successful Candidate

To be successful in this role, you will possess:

  • Demonstrated experience administering Windows Server and desktop environments
  • Strong knowledge of Windows configuration, management and troubleshooting
  • Hands-on experience with Active Directory, Group Policy and Windows Defender
  • Experience implementing secure system configurations and hardening controls
  • Knowledge of Windows networking, authentication and system services
  • Familiarity with security frameworks such as ISM, NIST, CIS Benchmarks, STIGs or similar
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Experience producing technical documentation and system build guides
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • The ability to work effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders
