Job description

We're looking for an IT Assistant to join our team. This is an entry-level position, so you don't need years of experience, you need to be reliable, curious about technology, and good with people who aren't.

You'll be the first person our staff come to when something isn't working. You'll work closely with, and under the direction of, our Operational Manager, who will train and support you.

What you’ll be doing

Being the first point of contact for staff IT questions and problems, logging them, fixing the straightforward ones, escalating the rest

Carrying out routine tasks in Microsoft 365 as directed

Helping staff get the most out of SharePoint, Teams and our other business systems

Keeping the IT asset register up to date

Helping staff spot and report phishing emails, and reporting any security concerns straight away

Writing simple how-to guides so the same question doesn't come up twice

What we’re looking for

A confident everyday user of Windows and Microsoft 365 (Outlook, Teams, SharePoint, OneDrive)

A genuine interest in IT and a willingness to learn on the job

Clear, patient communication — you can explain things without jargon

Reliability and good judgement around confidential information

Someone comfortable asking for help and escalating rather than guessing

A satisfactory National Police Check

The right to work in Australia

Nice to have, but not essential

Certificate III or IV in Information Technology, or study underway

Exposure to Entra ID or Intune

A current Queensland driver licence

Paid under the SCHADS Award (MA000100), Social and Community Services stream

Hands-on training and close support from an experienced manager
