Job summary

Act for Kids is seeking a Specialist Family Support Practitioner for the Townsville Intensive Family Support team. You will walk with vulnerable families, helping them build skills, confidence and supports for safe, stable and nurturing environments for children.

You will engage in intensive case management, provide therapeutic services and collaborate with partners to achieve positive, lasting outcomes. This full-time role is a government funded contract until 30 June 2028 with potential

Qualifications

• Require tertiary qualification in allied health/social work/psychology/human services with registration if required.
• At least five years’ experience providing complex and intensive case-management and therapeutic services to families in a child protection framework.
• Eligibility to work in Australia with Working with Children Check or professional exemption.

Responsibilities

• Deliver intensive, child-centred case management and tailored interventions addressing complex needs and child protection concerns.
• Build strong partnerships with families, community services and government agencies to achieve meaningful goals.
• Provide guidance and support colleagues through coaching, mentoring and professional collaboration.
• Strengthen family resilience and caregiver capacity to safely care for their children.
