Job summary

Act for Kids in Mackay is seeking a Specialist Family Support Practitioner to join the Mackay Intensive Family Support (IFS) team. You will provide intensive, child-centred case management and tailored interventions to help vulnerable families create safe, stable and nurturing environments for their children.

This full-time, government-funded contract runs until 30 June 2027 with potential extension, offering a salary of AUD 105,578–110,360 plus Superannuation and benefits including salary

Qualifications

• At least five years' experience providing complex and intensive case-management and therapeutic services to families within a child protection framework.
• Eligibility to work in Australia (proof of eligibility) including Working with Children Check.
• Relevant tertiary qualification and professional registration as applicable.

Responsibilities

• Deliver intensive, child-centred case management and tailored interventions to address complex needs and child protection concerns.
• Build strong partnerships with families, community services and government agencies to achieve meaningful goals and sustainable outcomes.
• Apply specialist expertise to assess needs, provide guidance and support colleagues through coaching, mentoring and professional collaboration.
• Strengthen family resilience and caregivers' capacity to safely care for children.

Specialist Family Support Practitioner - Mackay

We're excited to welcome a Specialist Family Support Practitioner to our Mackay Intensive Family Support (IFS) team. In this rewarding role, you'll walk alongside vulnerable families, helping them build the skills, confidence and supports they need to create safe, stable and nurturing environments for their children. Through compassionate, evidence-informed practice, you'll empower families to achieve positive and lasting change.

• Level 5 SCHCADS Award.
• Salary range: $105,578 - $110,360 + Superannuation.
• Full-time, Government funded contract opportunity until 30 June 2027 with possible extension.

About You

• Hold a relevant tertiary qualification (allied health, social work, human services) with professional registration (if required) and, a membership in a professional association (desirable).
• At least five (5) years' experience providing complex and intensive case-management and therapeutic services to families, caregivers, young people and children in a child protection framework.
• Eligibility to work in Australia (proof of eligibility required), including holding or obtaining required checks (Working with Children Check or professional exemption).
