Job summary

Hooker & Heijden in Melbourne is seeking a Senior Account Manager to lead a Mid-Market and Corporate portfolio, delivering best-in-class insurance outcomes for our clients. You will collaborate with the Team Manager to drive revenue growth and client satisfaction across a range of sectors.

The role requires a minimum of 5 years' experience managing clients, and a Tier 1 broking qualification or a diploma in insurance broking.

Qualifications

• Strong technical understanding of General Lines general insurance.
• Post Graduate/Diploma or Degree in Business/Finance/Commerce with Tier 1 Broking compliance is expected.

The Role

As a senior member of the team, you will you work closely with the Team Manager, to play your part in the delivery of best-in-class insurance outcomes and insurance risk transfer solutions to corporate clients from a wide range of industry segments including Construction, Manufacturing, Property Owners and more. As the successful applicant you will:

1. Manage portfolio of Mid-Market & Corporate clients generating about $600k income
2. Work collaboratively with stakeholders to deliver the best possible outcome for clients with a focus on client retention, revenue generation through New Business and the delivery of the full range of our client’s capabilities.
3. Maintaining strategic relationships with insurance carrier partners in all key markets and successfully negotiating appropriate risk transfer and placement solutions based on individual client risk profile.
4. Monitor and review your own portfolio in support of a robust compliance, regulatory and legislative climate and helping support clients and colleagues in support of great client outcomes across both General lines and ideally the Professional Services lines of Insurance.
5. Participation in business development opportunities, including policy wording health-checks, technical and claims commentary in tenders and involvement in new business presentations across the business.
6. Participation where relevant and appropriate in key speaking opportunities at industry events in Victoria to raise awareness of our client’s brand and capabilities in the General Insurance and risk space.
7. Provide high level of support to all team members and ensure that all requests are met in a timely and efficient manner.
8. Processing of large commercial/corporate new business, renewals and policy document preparation and maintenance. Support of internal infrastructure that supports internal frameworks
9. Ensure provision of excellent service to clients and the highest quality input to insurers including quoting renewals, processing of endorsements/amendments, preparing correspondence between our clients and underwriters, updating reports, premium calculations and allocations where required at the client’s direction.

Skills and Experience that will lead to success

1. Strong technical understanding of a broad range of General Lines general insurance lines and ideally a fondness for an area where we may assist you in growing your expertise.
2. A keen entrepreneurial spirit and flair for business development with excellent cross-selling abilities
3. Highly self-motivated to take ownership and accountability for development and execution of relationships at a senior level.
4. Excellent oral and written communication skills
5. Team Player who works well with others, in support of a national focus on the General lines of business but also comfortable with helping nurture and support others in support of a focused approach to Professional Services
6. Post Graduate/Diploma or Degree in Bus/Finance/Commerce plus qualifications in accordance with the Financial Services Reform Act (minimum Tier 1 Broking Compliance) would be expected; individuals from an underwriting background would be welcome to apply.
