Job summary

RAATSIC (Cairns City Remote Area Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Corporation) seeks a dedicated Counsellor for the Child Witness Domestic Violence Program. Based in Cairns, the role involves counselling children and families affected by domestic violence and providing outreach across Cape York communities.

The position is full-time with travel requirements. Experience with Indigenous communities is essential, along with qualifications in Counselling, Social Work, or Social Sciences.

Qualifications

• Extensive knowledge of issues affecting Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people and communities.
• Strong counselling and supportive communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Provide information, counselling support and referrals to parents/guardians focusing on children and young people.
• Maintain client data records and confidentiality in line with policies.
• Travel regularly through Cape York communities as required for service delivery.
