Job summary

Blu Ginger Indian Restaurant in Canberra is seeking two full-time chefs with at least 1 year of full-time experience. 38 hours per week, salary AUD 80,000–85,000 per annum plus 12% superannuation. Located at 2/5–21 Genge Street, Canberra ACT 2600.

The role involves preparing dishes per menu, overseeing kitchen operations, menu design, staff supervision, and maintaining high standards of quality, hygiene and cost controls. Experience and qualifications in kitchen management are required.

Qualifications

• Minimum 1 year full-time chef experience.
• Certificate IV in Kitchen Management or equivalent.
• Ability to work under pressure.
• Knowledge of food safety and hygiene standards.
• Passion for cooking.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and cook dishes per menu and recipes provided.
• Prepare and cook a variety of dishes to order with high flavour and authenticity.
• Ensure consistent execution of recipes, presentation and portion control.
• Oversee daily kitchen operations ensuring efficiency and high standards.
• Monitor quality of dishes at all stages of preparation and presentation.
• Design and update menus using fresh, locally sourced produce to ensure flavour.
• Recruit, train and supervise kitchen staff, fostering a collaborative environment.
• Rostering staff and managing labour costs.
• Manage inventory, order supplies and control food costs to meet targets.
• Maintain hygiene and safety standards per regulations.
• Collaborate with front-of-house to ensure excellent service.
• Work with management to reflect guest feedback and seasonal ingredients.
• Facilitate special events and meet food cost budgets and KPIs.
