Job summary

Gravy n More in Canberra is seeking a skilled Chef to lead routine cooking, menu development support and kitchen operations.

You will prepare and cook dishes, assist with menu planning, monitor quality and safety, and work during busy shifts including weekends. The role requires 1–3 years of cooking experience, strong teamwork and time-management in a fast-paced kitchen environment.

Salary is AUD 75,000–85,000 plus superannuation, with full-time hours in a busy restaurant setting.

Qualifications

• Minimum 1–3 years of relevant work experience as a Chef or in a similar role.
• Knowledge of cooking techniques, food preparation and kitchen operations.
• Understanding of menu planning, food costing and stock control.
• Knowledge of food safety, hygiene and safe food-handling practices.

Responsibilities

• Plan menus and develop recipes in consultation with management.
• Prepare, season and cook food according to recipes and quality standards.
• Monitor quality, taste and presentation of dishes before serving.
• Estimate food requirements and assist with ordering ingredients and supplies.
• Maintain inventory and minimise food wastage.
