Job summary

Priority Cargo Australia is seeking a motivated Import Operations Coordinator to join our team on a full-time basis. You will coordinate and manage import shipments, ensuring smooth movement from overseas origins through customs clearance to final delivery to clients' warehouses, with a focus on documentation accuracy and timely updates.

You will liaise with customs brokers, shipping lines, transport providers and warehouse operators, monitor shipments, resolve issues, and contribute to cost

Qualifications

• Experience in import operations and freight forwarding.
• Understanding of Australian import procedures and customs clearance.
• Proficient in import documentation and data handling.
• Proficiency in MS Office (Excel, Word).
• Familiarity with CargoWise or similar systems.
• Mandarin language skills are advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Review, prepare and process import documentation, including Bills of Lading, commercial invoices, packing lists and customs declarations.
• Liaise with customs brokers, shipping lines, overseas agents, transport providers and other relevant parties to ensure timely shipment processing.
• Coordinate import customs clearance procedures and follow up on documentation or clearance requirements.
• Monitor shipment progress and track cargo movements from origin through to final warehouse delivery.
• Arrange and coordinate transport, container movements, unloading and warehouse deliveries.
• Process supplier invoices, prepare customer billing and assist with cost control and job reconciliation.
• Identify, investigate and resolve shipment discrepancies, delays and operational issues.
• Maintain accurate shipment records and documentation for compliance and audit trails.
• Provide customers with regular shipment updates and communicate delivery schedules and delays.

Skills & Experience

• Previous experience in import operations, customs clearance or a similar role within the freight forwarding or logistics industry.

• Good understanding of Australian import procedures and customs clearance requirements.

• Familiarity with import documentation and freight forwarding operational systems.

• Strong attention to detail and accuracy when handling shipment documentation and data.

• Ability to work independently, prioritise tasks and manage multiple shipments simultaneously.

• Good communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to liaise effectively with customers, suppliers and service providers.

• Strong problem-solving skills and a proactive approach to handling operational challenges.

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel and Word.

• Experience with CargoWise is highly regarded.

• Mandarin language skills are highly regarded.
