Job summary

Playgroup NSW is seeking a dynamic People & Culture Coordinator to strengthen HR processes across recruitment, onboarding, HRIS management and training coordination. You will support a positive, inclusive culture and partner with leadership to drive org-wide people initiatives.

You will maintain HR records, respond to employee enquiries, ensure compliance with SCHADS and award requirements, and contribute to a high-performing workplace focused on engagement and wellbeing.

Qualifications

• Substantial experience in a similar People & Culture or HR generalist role, preferably within not-for-profit or community services.
• Tertiary qualification in Human Resources, Business, or a related field.
• Strong knowledge of HR best practices, employment legislation (including SCHADS award), and industrial relations.
• Proficiency with HRIS and data analysis tools, and experience with Learning Management Systems.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with diverse stakeholders.
• Commitment to inclusion, diversity and wellbeing aligned with organisational values.

Responsibilities

• Maintain the HRIS (BambooHR) with accurate and confidential employee data.
• Assist recruitment including job descriptions, salary classification, and candidate interviews.
• Coordinate training programs and maintain records of mandatory training and development activities.
• Oversee onboarding and induction processes for new staff.
• Provide timely HR advice and ensure policy compliance across programs.
• Manage exit processes including payroll liaison and notices.
• Support adherence to the Award and legislative requirements and oversee annual pay increases.
• Assist management and staff in interpreting Award and employment legislation.
