Job summary

Strathbogie Shire Council is seeking a Finance professional to join the Finance team. You will manage the annual budget, monthly and quarterly reporting, and coordinate audits with external auditors to meet statutory obligations.

A tertiary accounting/business qualification is essential, with strong budgeting and reporting skills. The role offers hybrid work options, flexible hours, and opportunities to improve financial systems and processes while developing staff and ensuring confidentiality

Qualifications

• A tertiary qualification in Accounting/Business.
• Experience in government accounting or public sector reporting is desirable.
• Knowledge of AASB standards and statutory reporting requirements.

Responsibilities

• Prepare council annual budget and mid-year budget review under CFO and Director People and Governance.
• Prepare monthly Council reports and quarterly reports in line with standards and internal requirements.
• Coordinate annual audit with external auditors (VAGO or representative).
• Coordinate preparation of statutory returns including BAS, FBT, Grants Commission and Essential Services Commission.
• Coordinate banking and Corporate Credit Cards including monthly reconciliations.
• Lead and develop finance staff and manage confidential information.
