Job summary

Colac Otway Shire Council is seeking a permanent full-time finance professional to join the Financial Services team in Ballarat. You will support daily bank reconciliations, accounts payable and financial administration while helping with month-end tasks and reporting.

Qualifications

• Experience in finance administration, accounts payable, bookkeeping or similar roles.
• A sound understanding of accounting and finance principles.
• Excellent attention to detail and data entry accuracy.
• Strong Microsoft Office skills, particularly Excel.
• Great communication and customer service skills.
• The ability to prioritise, meet deadlines and work both independently and as part of a team.

Responsibilities

• Daily bank reconciliations and financial processing.
• Supporting month-end finance activities.
• Assisting with accounts payable, supplier maintenance and payment runs.
• Processing procurement card transactions and credit notes.
• Supporting GST, FBT and other taxation-related reporting.
• Providing backup support for Accounts Payable and assisting across the wider Finance team as needed.
