Job summary

Morson Edge Australia is seeking an experienced HVAC Estimator to join its Sydney-based team. You will work with an existing Estimator and senior management to develop accurate estimates for a range of commercial mechanical projects, including design-and-construct works and multi-storey developments.

You will review drawings, prepare take-offs, obtain supplier quotations and contribute to tender submissions, with opportunities for professional development in a collaborative environment.

Qualifications

• 3+ years' experience in HVAC or mechanical services estimating.
• Experience estimating commercial HVAC installation and construction projects.
• Ability to interpret mechanical drawings, specifications and technical documentation.
• Experience completing quantity take-offs using Bluebeam Revu or similar estimating software.
• Knowledge of labour costing, tender preparation and mechanical construction processes.
• Strong communication, organisational and time-management skills.

Responsibilities

• Review mechanical drawings, specifications and tender documentation to establish project requirements.
• Prepare detailed quantity take-offs for ductwork, pipework, equipment and associated mechanical services.
• Develop accurate cost estimates covering materials, equipment, labour and subcontractor packages.
• Obtain, review and compare supplier and subcontractor quotations.
• Prepare competitive tender submissions, including inclusions, exclusions and qualifications.
• Assist with equipment selections, design reviews and value engineering opportunities.
• Identify potential scope gaps, project risks and cost-saving opportunities.
• Liaise with suppliers, subcontractors, consultants and internal project teams.
• Collaborate with the existing Estimator to manage tender deadlines and workloads.
• Support the handover of successful tenders to the project delivery team.

The Opportunity

Working alongside an existing Estimator and closely with senior management, you will play an important role in preparing accurate and competitive estimates for a variety of commercial HVAC and mechanical services projects. You will be involved throughout the tendering process, from reviewing initial documentation and completing detailed take-offs through to supplier pricing, cost preparation and final tender submissions. The role offers exposure to a diverse range of commercial mechanical projects, including design-and-construct works, commercial fit-outs and multi-storey developments.

About You

• 3+ years' experience in HVAC or mechanical services estimating, preferably within an Australian commercial mechanical contractor.
• Experience estimating commercial HVAC installation and construction projects.
• Strong ability to interpret mechanical drawings, specifications and technical documentation.
• Experience completing quantity take-offs using Bluebeam Revu or similar estimating software.
• Sound understanding of commercial HVAC systems, including VRV/VRF, ducted systems, AHUs, FCUs, ventilation and chilled-water systems.
• Experience obtaining supplier and subcontractor quotations and preparing detailed cost estimates.
• Knowledge of labour costing, tender preparation and mechanical construction processes.
• Strong communication, organisational and time-management skills.
• Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within an estimating team.
• A background in Mechanical Engineering, HVAC installation, mechanical contracting or design and construct will be highly regarded.
