Job description

This is a permanent full-time position commencing Term 1, 2027.

Kelmscott Senior High School is a school of opportunity for students. The school offers Department of Education endorsed Specialist Programs in Agriculture and Music, Gifted & Talented Secondary Selective Entrance Program and a range of Kelmscott Extension Programs (KEP) in Mathematics, Science, English and Humanities & Social Sciences. We are only one of two schools to provide Gifted & Talented online to rural areas.

Each year Kelmscott Senior High School receives students from our contributory primary schools of Clifton Hills, Grovelands, Kelmscott, Kingsley and Westfield Park Primary Schools. Students from outside of our intake area have access to the school through our Specialist Programs of Gifted & Talented Education, Music and Agriculture.

The Role

As a Human Resource Officer, you will ideally provide professional and responsive human resource support across the school, working closely with staff, the Executive team and the wider school community. The successful applicant should display strong interpersonal and organisational skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities, maintain confidentiality and contribute to a positive and collaborative working environment.

The role includes providing advice and support on human resource legislation, policies and procedures, as well as contributing to workforce planning, attraction and retention, succession planning and establishment management. Experience coordinating end-to-end recruitment activities, including deployment, selection and appointment processes, would be highly regarded. Knowledge of relief coordination, human resource systems and relevant departmental processes would also be advantageous.

The successful applicant will ideally bring sound judgement, attention to detail and an understanding of compliance requirements. Experience supporting Work Health and Safety (WHS) processes and providing advice to staff in consultation with the Executive team would also be valued, along with the ability to contribute to practical and effective workforce solutions that support positive outcomes for staff and students.
