Job summary

Macquarie University invites applications for a leadership role in HR Shared Services, overseeing position establishment and appointments with a focus on improving processes and data quality. You will build a capable team, manage service delivery, and partner with stakeholders to enhance staff experiences across the university group.

The role reports to the Head of HR Shared Services, emphasizes end-to-end service design, and uses technology to drive reliable, scalable operations.

Qualifications

• Demonstrated experience leading and developing a team delivering HR operations, shared services or transactional HR services in a complex organisation.
• Proven experience in position establishment, appointments, onboarding or related employee lifecycle services, including operational oversight and risk escalation.
• Technical competency with HRIS or workflow technology (Workday or equivalent), including requirement definition, configuration input, testing of changes and upgrades.
• Demonstrated capability in process and systems design, with a track record of end-to-end service improvement informed by data and performance metrics.
• Experience establishing service performance standards, reporting against metrics, and maintaining high standards of data quality to enable reporting and dashboards.
• Well-developed stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to manage expectations and competing priorities across internal and external customers.
• Sound working knowledge of relevant employment frameworks, EEO and WHS obligations, and their practical application in HR service delivery

Responsibilities

• Lead the delivery and continuous improvement of position establishment and appointment services, escalating issues and risks to inform decision-making and planning.
• Build and manage an effective team, including work allocation, capability development and performance management, to maintain high levels of engagement and motivation.
• Provide operational oversight of HR services relating to position establishment and employee appointments, escalating issues and risks to inform decision-making and planning.
• Plan and manage the use of agreed processes, standards, methods and tools to underpin efficiency, effectiveness, reliability and consistency of service delivery and performance.
• Maintain high data quality and optimising data to improve client visibility and decision-making through reports and dashboards.
• Manage and optimise the technology solutions that enable service delivery, including requirement definition and testing of changes and upgrades.
• Develop long-term customer relationships and maintain a clear understanding of customer needs, balancing competing internal and external stakeholder demands to deliver operational excellence and a high level of customer satisfaction.
• Lead ongoing analysis and review of HR services and processes to identify opportunities for value optimisation, improvement and enhancement, informed by customer data and service performance metrics.
• Develop service performance standards and reporting against performance metrics aligned with business and HR objectives, while fostering a work environment with a culture of accountability
