Job summary

A W Edwards, part of Bouygues Bâtiment International, is seeking an experienced HR Business Partner to support multiple construction projects from our Sydney-based office. This role emphasises employment relations, strategy, and hands-on HR operations on site.

You will partner with project directors and leaders, manage ER/IR issues, and drive workforce planning while ensuring compliance with Australian employment laws. A strong site-based HR background is essential.

Qualifications

• 8+ years HRBP experience within construction, infrastructure, mining, engineering, or industrial sectors.
• Strong ER/IR capability and experience with Australian employment law landscape.
• Workers Compensation management experience and experience supporting blue-collar/site-based workforces.

Responsibilities

• Partner with senior operational leaders across construction projects.
• Provide strategic and operational HR advice.
• Execute day-to-day HR Operations and act as the first point of contact for HR enquiries.
• Lead employee relations matters and resolve grievances.
• Coach managers on performance and disciplinary matters and ensure policy compliance.
• Maintain up-to-date knowledge on applicable employment legislation and apply it accordingly.
• Conduct and manage workplace investigations.
• Drive workforce planning and talent strategies.
• Support mobilisation and project ramp-up activities.

The Role

Reporting to the Senior HR Business Partner, you will partner closely with Project Directors, operational leaders, and corporate stakeholders to deliver strategic and operational HR support across multiple construction projects.

This role requires strong employment relations capability, commercial acumen, and the ability to operate effectively within a fast-paced, site-based environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Maintain up-to-date knowledge on applicable employment legislation and support with the interpretation and application of these.
• Conduct and manage workplace investigations
• Drive workforce planning and talent strategies
• Develop and maintain HR policies & procedures ensuring compliance with applicable legislation
• Support mobilisation and project ramp-up activities
• Assist Recruitment Manager with recruitment activities
• Coach leaders on people management and compliance
