Job summary

A W Edwards, a long-standing NSW builder, seeks a Community and Social Impact Coordinator to support NSW Government projects in Sydney. You will manage day-to-day communications, stakeholder engagement and community relations while supporting workforce development and social initiatives.

Reporting to the Senior Communications Manager, you will collaborate with project teams, subcontractors and community groups to monitor participation outcomes and drive social legacy across major construction

Qualifications

• Experience in communications, community engagement and stakeholder relations across large infrastructure or major projects.
• Experience coordinating workforce development or diversity initiatives with contractors and training providers.
• Ability to monitor participation data, KPIs and contractual commitments.

Responsibilities

• Develop and deliver project communications and stakeholder engagement activities for the NSW Government projects.
• Communicate construction activities, changes, timeframes and impacts to stakeholders.
• Build and maintain relationships with residents, businesses, groups, clients and government agencies.
• Plan and facilitate stakeholder meetings, community forums, site visits and events.
• Manage enquiries, complaints and sensitive stakeholder matters.
• Support workforce development and participation initiatives by monitoring subcontractor performance and data collection.

About The Role

We are seeking an experienced Community and Social Impact Coordinator to support one of our NSW Government projects in Sydney.

Reporting to the Senior Communications and Community Manager, you will manage day-to-day communications, stakeholder engagement and community relations for the project, while also supporting workforce skills, training, diversity and Aboriginal participation initiatives.

You will work closely with the project team, subcontractors, clients, training providers, community organisations and government agencies to support project commitments, monitor participation outcomes and contribute to positive community and social legacy outcomes.

This is a communications-led role with an additional focus on workforce development and social performance.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and deliver project communications and stakeholder engagement activities, including notifications, newsletters, e-updates, fact sheets, presentations and other communications materials.
• Communicate construction activities, project changes, timeframes and potential impacts to affected stakeholders.
• Build and maintain effective relationships with residents, businesses, community groups, clients, subcontractors, councils, government agencies and other stakeholders.
• Plan and facilitate stakeholder meetings, community forums, site visits and project events.
• Manage enquiries, complaints and sensitive stakeholder matters, coordinating with project teams to investigate and resolve issues within required timeframes.
• Support workforce development and participation initiatives by monitoring subcontractor performance, tracking KPIs and contractual commitments, and coordinating data collection, reporting and compliance activities.

About You

To be successful in this role, you will have:

• A tertiary qualification in communications, public relations, marketing, workforce development or a related discipline, or equivalent relevant experience.
• At least three years’ experience in communications, community engagement, stakeholder relations, workforce development or a related field, preferably within major infrastructure, construction, utilities, transport or other complex projects.
• Experience preparing communications materials and managing community enquiries, complaints and sensitive stakeholder matters.
• Experience supporting workforce development, training, diversity or Aboriginal participation initiatives, including coordinating with subcontractors, training providers, community organisations and government agencies.
• Experience collecting, monitoring and reporting workforce participation data, KPIs and contractual commitments.
• Excellent written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills, with strong community engagement, relationship-management, organisational, reporting and data-management capabilities.
• Proficiency in OpenPoint, Microsoft Office and other digital or project management systems, with the ability to work collaboratively with project teams, clients, subcontractors and external stakeholders.

A White Card and training in stakeholder engagement, complaints management, communications, workforce development, or social procurement would be desirable.
