Job summary

Silky Oaks Children's Haven in Capalaba, QLD, is seeking an experienced HR Adviser to join our not-for-profit team, 4 or 5 days a week. You will balance operational HR support with strategic people initiatives in a purpose-driven organisation.

Reporting to the Operations Manager, you will advise on employee relations, recruitment, performance management, wellbeing, and workforce planning while helping build a positive, safe, and high-performing workplace culture.

Qualifications

• HR qualification or related discipline.
• Minimum 5 years of HR Adviser/HRBP experience.
• Strong knowledge of Australian employment law.
• Experience with performance management and employee relations.
• Proficiency in Microsoft 365.
• Current Queensland driver's license.
• Eligibility to work in Australia.
• Not-for-profit or community services sector experience.
• SCHADS Award knowledge.
• Experience with HRIS and reporting tools.

Responsibilities

• Conduct recruitment, onboarding, and induction processes.
• Provide practical HR advice to managers and employees.
• Assist with performance management and disciplinary matters.
• Guide managers on employee relations and workplace behaviours.
• Support WHS initiatives and wellbeing programs.
• Maintain HR policies and templates for compliance.
• Coordinate learning and development activities.
• Assist with workforce reporting and HR metrics.
• Support organisational change and continuous improvement.
• Contribute to an inclusive, values-driven workplace culture.
