Job summary

St Vincent’s Hospital Network in Sydney is recruiting a Telephonist/Receptionist for the Switchboard. You will welcome patients and staff, handle calls, and support urgent situations with Security coordination. You will manage rosters and directories to keep hospital communications efficient.

The role requires calm, professional communication, and the ability to work a 7-day rotating roster including day and evening shifts. Salary packaging and not-for-profit benefits are included.

Qualifications

• Experience in a switchboard/contact centre or receptionist role is desirable.
• Ability to manage calls professionally and provide patient service.
• Calm, decisive in emergencies and high-stress situations.
• Strong written and oral communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Be the friendly, professional voice and face of St Vincent’s Hospital over the phone.
• Take charge in urgent situations and liaise with Security as needed.
• Provide compassionate support to callers in distress including mental health scenarios.
• Maintain and update medical rosters, directories and administrative systems to keep Switchboard operations running smoothly.
• Work a dynamic 7-day rotating roster with day, evening and overnight shifts (Sacred Heart Receptionist hours).
