Job summary

SilverChain is seeking a Home Care Worker in the Canberra area to assist older community members at home, promoting independence and wellbeing. You will visit clients, perform household tasks, assist with meals and transport, and provide social support to enhance quality of life.

The role requires a valid Australian driver's license and ownership of a insured, roadworthy vehicle, plus 3–6 months experience in a similar role. Training and career development opportunities are provided.

Qualifications

• Valid Australian driver’s licence and your own insured, roadworthy vehicle.
• 3–6 months experience in a similar role (aged/community care entry).
• Interest in community care or aged care.

Responsibilities

• Provide home help services to aged care clients at home.
• General housekeeping, bed making, cleaning, mopping and vacuuming.
• Laundry including washing, folding and ironing.
• Meal preparation and grocery shopping.
• Provide social support and transport to activities.
• Support the family carer to give them a break.

• Are comfortable working independently and finding solutions to everyday problems, knowing when to ask your manager for help.

In addition, you will need:

• A valid Australian Driver's Licence & your own insured, roadworthy vehicle
• An interest in community care or aged care (3 - 6 months previous experience in a similar role).

The role

In the role of Home Care Worker you will be providing our aged care clients with home help services, such as:

• Cleaning, mopping and vacuuming floors
• Washing, folding and ironing laundry
• Meal preparation and grocery shopping
• Providing social support and transport to lifestyle activities
• Helping the family carer to have a break or an opportunity to do other things.
