Job summary

Silverchain is seeking Home Care Workers in Tweed Heads and surrounding suburbs to support older clients at home. Roles include personal care, light domestic tasks and companionship, with training opportunities and pathways to qualifications.

Casual shifts with potential progression to part-time, requiring a valid driver’s license and the ability to travel between clients. Competitive award rate with enhancements and benefits apply.

Qualifications

• 3+ months experience in a similar role with personal care.
• Experience with manual handling, hoist training and medications.
• Must have a valid Australian driver’s license and own insured vehicle.

Responsibilities

• Provide general housekeeping, cleaning, laundry and meal preparation for clients.
• Deliver personal care: assist with bed-to-chair transfers, daily routines, mobility support and medication reminders.
• Support clients with transport to activities or appointments and accompany family carers where needed.

It takes a special person to be a Home Care Worker and help the older members of our community to maintain their home and enhance their wellbeing. We are looking for experienced Carers, Support Workers (or similar position in Aged Care & or Disability) to join the Silverchain team in Tweed Heads & surrounding suburbs (Banora Point, Kings Forest, Upper Duroby etc...)

What we're looking for

We are looking for people who:

• Don't sweat the small stuff. Sometimes your client will be having a bad day or traffic delays you, but you know not to take this personally and can shake it off before your next client.
• Are comfortable working independently and finding solutions to everyday problems, knowing when to ask your manager for help.

In addition, you will need:

• A valid Australian Driver's Licence & your own insured, roadworthy vehicle
• Experience of 3 months or more in a similar professional role, with experience in with personal care, manual handling, hoist training and medications. (no cert 3 required)

The role

In the role of Care Worker you will be providing our aged care clients with home help services such as:

• General housekeeping and making beds
• Cleaning, mopping and vacuuming floors
• Washing, folding and ironing laundry
• Meal preparation and grocery shopping.

You will also be providing our aged care clients with personal care services such as:

• Getting clients out of bed, showered and dressed for the day
• Assisting clients to take their medications
• Assisting with mobility and therapy goals
• Providing complex care for customers with high care needs, such as dementia
• Providing social and emotional support
• Providing the client with transport to lifestyle activities or appointments
• Helping the family carer to have a break or an opportunity to do other things.
