Job summary

Silverchain is hiring a Care Worker in Hornsby and surrounding areas. You will help older community members maintain independence and wellbeing with home care services, including both personal care and domestic tasks. A Cert III in Aged Care or related field is required, plus at least 6 months of in-role experience.

A valid drivers licence and vehicle are essential. We offer guaranteed hours, an hourly rate of 39.31 AUD plus super and paid kilometres, plus benefits and training programs to

Qualifications

• Own insured, roadworthy vehicle
• Experience of 6 months or more in a similar role with personal care and medications

Responsibilities

• General housekeeping, bed making, cleaning floors, laundry, meal preparation and grocery shopping.
• Personal care tasks including getting clients out of bed, showering and dressing, and assisting with medications.
• Support mobility and therapy goals, provide social and emotional support, and transport clients to activities or appointments.
• Support family carers by giving them a break when needed.

• Don't sweat the small stuff. Sometimes your client will be having a bad day or traffic delays you, but you know not to take this personally and can shake it off before your next client.
• Are comfortable working independently and finding solutions to everyday problems, knowing when to ask your manager for help.

In addition, you will need:

• A valid Australian Driver's Licence & your own insured, roadworthy vehicle
• Certificate III or above in Aged Care or Individual Support or Disability
• Experience of 6 months or more in a similar role, with experience in with personal care, manual handling, hoist training and medications.

The role

In the role of Care Worker you will be providing our aged care clients with home help services such as:

• General housekeeping and making beds
• Cleaning, mopping and vacuuming floors
• Washing, folding and ironing laundry
• Meal preparation and grocery shopping.
• You will also be providing our aged care clients with personal care services such as:
• Getting clients out of bed, showered and dressed for the day
• Assisting clients to take their medications
• Assisting with mobility and therapy goals
• Providing complex care for customers with high care needs, such as dementia
• Providing social and emotional support
• Providing the client with transport to lifestyle activities or appointments
• Helping the family carer to have a break or an opportunity to do other things.
