Job summary

Clennett Hire is seeking a highly organised Hire Controller for our Laverton branch in Victoria. You will oversee booking, delivery and return workflows, coordinating with branch teams, transport providers and customers to keep operations running smoothly.

Ideal candidates have proven experience in equipment hire or related fields, excellent customer service, and familiarity with hire-management systems. This role is on-site at Laverton with opportunities to develop in a supportive team

Qualifications

• Previous experience in equipment hire, construction, civil, logistics, transport or fleet coordination.
• Strong customer service skills and a confident phone manner.
• Good computer skills and confidence using systems.
• High attention to detail, especially with bookings, pricing and paperwork.
• Ability to manage competing priorities and follow through properly.
• Calm, solutions-focused approach when things change quickly.
• White Card preferred, or willingness to obtain one.
• Experience using Syrinx or another hire management system is highly regarded.
• HRW, Yellow Card, EWP, Forklift or First Aid licences are handy.

Responsibilities

• Coordinating hire and off-hire requests by phone, email and in person.
• Preparing quotes, contracts, delivery dockets and return dockets.
• Using Syrinx to manage bookings, customer records and hire details.
• Coordinating transport providers for equipment deliveries and pickups.
• Maintaining the daily run sheet for machines going out, returning or awaiting pickup.
• Working with the yard and service teams to ensure equipment is ready for dispatch.
• Supporting account setup, credit checks and customer payment processing.
• Keeping customers updated and solving issues quickly when plans change.
• Supporting the Business Development Managers with quotes and pricing information.
• Helping drive repeat business through reliable service and strong customer relationships.

What you’ll do

This role sits right in the middle of the action. You’ll work closely with the Branch Manager, service team, transport providers, customers and suppliers to make sure equipment is booked, prepared, delivered and returned properly.

You’ll be responsible for:
