Job summary

Sharp & Carter, partnering with a family-owned equipment hire business, is seeking a Hire Controller for their Western suburbs branch. This hands-on role connects Account Managers, the yard, the workshop, transport providers and customers to keep orders moving.

You will be a sharp, systems-minded operator with calm, solutions-focused handling of changing priorities, strong customer service, and experience with hire software. The role offers training and growth as the branch expands.

Qualifications

• Experience in equipment hire, construction, civil, logistics, transport or fleet coordination.
• Strong customer service skills and a confident phone manner.
• Good systems capability, Syrinx or similar hire software is highly regarded.
• High attention to detail with bookings, pricing and paperwork.

Responsibilities

• Monitor the orders inbox and process bookings sent through by Account Managers.
• Manage hire and off-hire requests by phone, email and in person.
• Prepare quotes, contracts, delivery dockets and return dockets.
• Maintain accurate customer and hire records in the hire management system.
• Coordinate transport providers for deliveries and pickups.
• Manage the daily run sheet for equipment going out, returning or awaiting collection.
• Liaise with the yard and workshop to confirm equipment is ready for dispatch.
• Support account setups, credit checks and customer payments.
• Keep customers updated and resolve issues quickly.
• Assist Business Development Managers with quotes and pricing.

About the Role

Sharp & Carter is partnering with a well-regarded, family-owned equipment hire business to find a Hire Controller for their Western suburbs branch.

Our client has grown steadily into Victoria over the past few years and competes with the big national hire names on service and reliability. They are now building out the branch team and are looking to add more than one person over time. This is a hands-on coordination role at the centre of the branch, connecting Account Managers, the yard, the workshop, transport providers and customers.

They want a sharp, systems-minded operator who can keep orders moving and stay composed when priorities change.

Key Responsibilities

• Monitor the orders inbox and process bookings sent through by Account Managers
• Manage hire and off-hire requests by phone, email and in person
• Prepare quotes, contracts, delivery dockets and return dockets
• Maintain accurate customer and hire records in the hire management system
• Coordinate transport providers for deliveries and pickups

About You

• Current Australian driver's licence
• White Card, or willingness to obtain one
• HRW, Yellow Card, EWP, Forklift or First Aid licences are beneficial but not essential
