Job summary

The Star Sydney is seeking a Cook or Commis/Demi Chef to join our vibrant, high-volume kitchen, working under the Restaurant Sous Chef to deliver flawless preparation, safety, and creativity in a hands-on environment.

Permanent full-time and part-time positions are available. You will maintain kitchen standards, master the menu, and work a rotating roster including nights and weekends, with industry-rate hourly pay and staff benefits.

Qualifications

• High volume culinary experience is required.
• Ability to work well within a team in a busy kitchen.
• Strong knowledge of food safety regulations and practices.
• Flexibility to work a rotating roster including nights and weekends.
• Certificate III Commercial Cookery (or higher) is required for Commis/Demi Chef role.

Responsibilities

• Maintain a clean working environment while preparing food in line with quality expectations and fluctuating volumes.
• Consistently maintain knowledge of the entire menu, including understanding base products and ingredients.
• Ensure food presentation meets menu requirements and kitchen standards (SOPs).
• Demonstrate knowledge of and use a broad range of cooking and food preparation equipment and skills.
