Job summary

Ventia has a role for a Vehicle Mechanic at Puckapunyal, north of Melbourne, to maintain and repair a diverse fleet of military vehicles within the Defence Maintenance Contract.

You’ll perform inspections, fault-finding, and component repairs on 4WDs, trucks, tracked and armoured vehicles, infantry personnel carriers and tanks, with on-site training and development opportunities. Relocation assistance is available for the right candidate.

Qualifications

• Certificate III in Heavy Vehicle Mechanical Technology or equivalent trade qualification.
• Experience inspecting, servicing and repairing light, medium and heavy vehicles.
• Current Australian Class C Driver's Licence.
• Australian Citizenship and Baseline Security Clearance eligibility.

Responsibilities

• Conduct maintenance, servicing, inspections and fault-finding activities.
• Perform technical inspections and vehicle classifications.
• Repair or replace worn and faulty components, including engines, transmissions and differentials.
• Reassemble, test, clean and adjust repaired components.
• Carry out minor body and trim repairs.
• Diagnose and repair vehicle electrical systems, including lighting, ignition and electronic fuel injection systems.
• Inspect vehicles and issue roadworthiness certificates where required.

An exciting opportunity is available for a Vehicle Mechanic to join our Defence Maintenance Contract (DMC) team based at Puckapunyal, north of Melbourne.

In this hands-on role, you'll carry out maintenance and repairs on a diverse fleet of military vehicles, including 4WDs, trucks, tracked and armoured vehicles, infantry personnel carriers, and even tanks.

This is a unique opportunity to work on specialised Defence assets rarely found in the civilian sector.

• $52.43 per hour + 12% super.
• 38-hour week, Monday to Friday, with an early finish every Friday.

About You

• Certificate III in Heavy Vehicle Mechanical Technology or equivalent trade qualification.
• Demonstrated experience inspecting, servicing and repairing light, medium and heavy vehicles.
• Current Australian State or Territory Class C Driver's Licence.

You must be an Australian Citizen and able to obtain and maintain a minimum Australian Government Baseline Security Clearance.
