Job summary

Ventia is recruiting a qualified Fitter to support Defence Maintenance Contract activities in Moorebank. You will maintain, repair, modify and recondition specialist Defence equipment, including armaments and small engines, following strict Defence and manufacturer standards.

You will interpret technical drawings, operate workshop machinery, and complete maintenance documentation while ensuring safe, efficient workmanship and collaboration with the Defence team.

Qualifications

• Trade qualification in mechanical fitting or equivalent.
• Valid C class driving licence.
• Experience maintaining, repairing and fault-finding mechanical equipment.

The Opportunity

Join our Moorebank team supporting Australia's Defence Force through the Defence Maintenance Contract (DMC). As a Fitter, you will carry out maintenance, repair, modification and reconditioning activities on a range of specialist Defence equipment to support operational readiness. Working within a collaborative maintenance team, you'll undertake installation, inspection and repair work on military armaments, small engines and other equipment, while delivering high-quality outcomes in line with Defence, safety and manufacturer standards.

Key Accountabilities

• Maintain, repair, modify and recondition specialist Defence equipment.


• Conduct installation, inspection and servicing activities on military armaments, small engines and associated equipment.


• Interpret technical drawings, specifications and work instructions to determine job requirements.


• Operate machinery and workshop equipment to manufacture or modify parts and components.


• Assemble, fit and test mechanical components and equipment.


• Conduct quality inspections and ensure work meets Defence and manufacturer standards.


• Provide technical advice and support to equipment operators and stakeholders.


• Complete maintenance documentation and relevant data entry requirements.


• Contribute to a safe, compliant and efficient workshop environment.

About You

• Hold a Trade Certificate III in Engineering Mechanical Trade (Fitter and Turner) or equivalent.


• Hold a current C Class Driver's Licence.


• Demonstrated experience maintaining, repairing and fault-finding on mechanical equipment.


• Ability to interpret technical drawings, specifications and maintenance documentation.


• Experience using workshop machinery, tools and measuring equipment.


• Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.


• Ability to quickly learn and effectively use proprietary software and Computerised Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS).

You must be an Australian Citizen and able to obtain and maintain a minimum Australian Government Baseline Security Clearance.
