Job summary

Ventia is seeking a Vehicle Mechanic for the Defence Maintenance Contract at Palmer Barracks, South Guildford, WA. You will perform routine maintenance, inspect and repair a range of military vehicles, from 4WDs to armoured platforms, ensuring roadworthiness.

The role offers a permanent full-time position, Monday–Friday with early finish on Fridays, relocation support, and access to wellbeing initiatives and VenPerks. Training and upskilling are available on Defence assets.

Qualifications

• Certificate III in Heavy Vehicle Mechanical Technology or equivalent.
• Experience inspecting, repairing and maintaining light, medium and heavy vehicles.
• Current Australian State or Territory Class C Driver's Licence.
• Experience using maintenance management systems and strong computer literacy.
• Experience within a Defence or military maintenance environment, including SAP, will be highly regarded.
• Strong commitment to safety, quality workmanship and continuous improvement.

Responsibilities

• Conduct maintenance tasks, including technical inspections and vehicle classifications.
• Repair or replace worn or faulty components, including assemblies such as engines, transmissions and differentials.
• Reassemble, test, clean and adjust repaired or replaced parts.
• Carry out minor body and trim repairs.
• Test and repair vehicle electrical systems, including lighting, ignition and electronic fuel injection systems.
• Inspect vehicles and issue roadworthiness certificates where authorised.
• Maintain accurate maintenance records and complete required documentation.

Join Ventia in a role that keeps the Australian Defence Force's wheels turning! An exciting opportunity is available for a Vehicle Mechanic to join our Defence Maintenance Contract team based at Palmer Barracks, South Guildford, WA.

As a Vehicle Mechanic, you will conduct routine maintenance and repairs on a wide range of military vehicles, including 4WDs, trucks, tracked and armoured vehicles, infantry personnel carriers and armoured tanks.

• $57.30 per hour (inclusive of allowances) +12% super.
• Permanent full-time position with great work-life balance: Monday to Friday roster with a 12:00pm finish every Friday.

• Strong commitment to safety, quality workmanship and continuous improvement.

You must be an Australian Citizen and able to obtain and maintain a minimum Australian Government Baseline Security Clearance.
