Job summary

Douglass Hanly Moir Pathology's St George laboratory is seeking a Health Professional (Scientist) to join the Haematology team on a permanent full-time basis. The role covers blood film morphology, transfusion and biochemistry, supporting high-quality patient care.

You will work as part of a dedicated team with rostered hours to cover a 24-hour operation, contributing to accurate diagnostics and efficient service delivery in a busy laboratory environment.

Qualifications

• Degree in Medical Science or recognised equivalent.
• Haematology or blood bank experience preferred.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.

An exciting opportunity exists for an enthusiastic Scientist to join our St George laboratory on a permanent full-time basis. The role will include blood film morphology, transfusion and biochemistry. The position will require you to work effectively and efficiently as part of a team. Rostered hours will vary to cover the operational hours of a 24-hour laboratory.

Selection criteria

To be considered for this position, the applicant must have a relevant Science degree. Previous experience in haematology and or blood bank (1-2 years is preferable). General computer skills and venepuncture experience will be highly regarded but not essential.

• Appropriately qualified – Degree in Medical Science or recognised equivalent.
• Eligible for professional membership of the Australian Institute of Medical Scientists.
• Experience in a diagnostic laboratory with Australian industry experience.
• Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills.
• The ability to work in a team environment without direct supervision.
• An understanding of quality control techniques.
• Proficient, motivated and highly organised with great attention to detail.
• Must be able to live and work in Australia on a permanent basis.
