Job summary

The University of Sydney is seeking a strategic Head of Graduate Research Services to lead the HDR Administration Centre and deliver high-quality services across the HDR lifecycle. Reporting to the Director, this role shapes the strategic direction of graduate research administration and drives continuous improvement across the University.

Qualifications

• Senior leadership experience within a large, complex university or similar environment.
• Proven track record in leading large operational or student services functions and driving improvements.
• Experience building capability and fostering a high-performing workforce.
• Expertise in governance, policy implementation and risk management.
• Ability to influence and partner with senior stakeholders across a complex organisation.
• Postgraduate qualification in a relevant discipline, HDR environment familiarity desirable.

Responsibilities

• Provide strategic advice and operational support to senior university leadership.
• Lead delivery of high-quality, client-focused services across the HDR lifecycle.
• Develop, mentor and empower a high-performing team with a culture of accountability.
• Drive service innovation, process improvements and HDR systems enhancements.
• Manage governance, compliance, policy implementation and operational risk.
• Build and maintain partnerships with faculties, schools and professional units.
