Job summary

The Langham Hotel Melbourne is seeking a part-time Guest Service Agent to join our Front Office team in Melbourne. You will work with a team of approximately 60 colleagues and deliver high-level guest service across check-in/out, inquiries, currency exchange and switchboard operations.

Candidates should have at least 1 year in a 5-star Front Office role, Opera experience, and strong numeracy and communication skills. Weekend and public holiday availability is required.

Responsibilities

• Provide peak guest service during check-in/out, enquiries, currency exchange, night audit functions and telephone switchboard operation.
• Maintain complete knowledge of all room categories and rates.
• Provide information on hotel facilities, hours and costs.
• Anticipate guest needs and respond in a proactive, courteous manner.
• Take reservations when Reservations department is closed.

Job description

The Langham Hotel Melbourne is currently looking for a part-time Guest Service Agents to join our team.

You will have the opportunity to work with the Front Office Team which consists of approximately 60 colleagues.

This is an exciting opportunity for you to grow your hotel skill set in order to build a career with-in The Langham, shall you be determined and dedicated.

This position is an integral part of a high performing hotel team, and a key contributor to the hotel’s ongoing success.

Your Responsibilities Will Include

• Provide the highest level of guest service throughout every interaction with our guests, (i.e. check in/out, enquiries, foreign currency exchange, night audit functions and telephone switchboard operation).
• To have complete knowledge of all room categories and rates.
• To provide information on all facilities provided within the hotel complex; operating hours, costs etc.
• To anticipate guest needs and handle guest enquiries in a helpful and attentive manner.
• Take hotel reservations as required outside the Reservations department operating hours.

For this role, your attributes will be inclusive of the following

• Being able to engage and build rapport with our guests to deliver personalised service and identify individual guest preferences
• Excellent presentation, communication and people skills combined with a polite, efficient and friendly disposition.
• Must have a minimum of 1 year previous experience within a 5 star Front Office environment.
• Opera experience is essential.
• A high level of numeracy, literacy and problem solving skills.
• Excellent telephone etiquette.
• Availability to work a variety of shifts including weekends and public holidays.
