Job summary

Vena Group is seeking an Engineer, Grid Connection to support renewable energy projects across Australia, from development through commissioning. You will work with internal teams, NSPs, AEMO and EPCs to deliver robust grid connection outcomes.

The role requires a power-systems background, experience in modelling tools (PSS/E, PowerFactory, PSCAD) and strong stakeholder communication. On-site work in Brisbane with competitive benefits.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering with focus on Power Systems.
• 2–5 years’ experience in power systems or renewable energy projects.
• Knowledge of Australian grid connection processes and NER Chapter 5 / Schedule 5.2.
• Experience with PSS/E and PowerFactory; PSCAD experience is advantageous.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent written and verbal communication; stakeholder engagement.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and work across diverse teams.
• Experience supporting GPS negotiations, registration activities or hold point testing is highly regarded.
• Applicants must have the legal right to work in Australia full-time.

Responsibilities

• Support identification and assessment of BESS, solar and wind opportunities through power system studies and market planning reviews.
• Contribute to grid connection strategies and technical assessments across the project lifecycle.
• Perform power system modelling and simulations using PSS/E and PSCAD to inform grid connection outcomes.
• Assist with R0, R1 and R2 grid connection studies, and support connection approvals and milestones.
• Support GPS negotiations with NSPs and AEMO.
• Collaborate with EPCs, OEMs, NSPs and AEMO to resolve grid connection issues.
• Support hold point testing, model validation and compliance activities.
• Undertake technical due diligence and performance assessments of inverter, PPC and other generation tech.
• Contribute to grid connection solutions for technologies including grid-forming BESS, offshore wind and hydrogen.
• Stay informed of National Electricity Rules changes and provide input to consultations.
