Job summary

Transport for NSW is seeking an Environment & Sustainability Officer for a temporary opportunity in Newcastle. You will provide environmental and sustainability guidance to staff and contractors, ensuring compliance and positive community outcomes across roads, bridges and maritime assets.

The role involves preparing environmental assessments, identifying risks, and working within an embedded project team to deliver sustainable outcomes within a fixed-term period ending 27 August 2027.

Qualifications

• Up to 2 years experience in a similar environmental role.
• Degree in Environmental Science or a related discipline.
• Knowledge of NSW and federal regulations relating to environmental practice.
• Collaborative team player across diverse projects and field-based work.
• Motivated and eager to learn with passion for environmental outcomes.

Responsibilities

• Provide environmental and sustainability advice to staff and contractors to meet legislation and organisation requirements.
• Prepare and review environmental assessment documentation and manage environmental risks.
• Guide sustainability strategies and environmental management, ensuring compliance, inspections and reporting.
• Support delivery of environmental outcomes across roads, bridges and maritime assets in the Hunter Region.
