Job summary

Infrastructure People seeks an experienced Excavator Operator to join our civil construction team across Sydney Metro sites. You will safely operate 30T–120T excavators on bulk earthworks and final trims, reading site plans and using a range of attachments.

Travel between project locations is required; a current driving licence and reliable transport are essential. We offer competitive hourly rates, long-term opportunities, and a supportive team environment on major infrastructure projects.

Qualifications

• 4-5 years' experience operating 30T-120T excavators.
• Proven civil construction and bulk earthworks experience.
• Strong experience with a variety of excavator attachments.
• Ability to read and work from site plans and construction drawings.
• Excellent understanding of safe operating procedures.
• Current driver's licence and reliable transport.
• Willingness to travel to project locations.

Responsibilities

• Perform bulk earthworks, excavation, trenching, demolition, and final trim activities.
• Operate excavator attachments including hydraulic hammers, grabs, rock saws, tilting mud buckets, and smooth-edge mud buckets.
• Complete daily pre-start inspections and basic machine maintenance.
• Work safely in accordance with site procedures and WHS requirements.
• Assist with operating other plant and machinery when required.

About the Role
As an Excavator Operator, you will be responsible for safely and efficiently operating heavy machinery across a range of civil construction and earthworks projects. The role requires a high level of skill, attention to detail, and the flexibility to travel between project sites as required.

• Perform bulk earthworks, excavation, trenching, demolition, and final trim activities.

• Multi-skilled operators capable of operating loaders, dozers, graders, rollers, or other civil plant.

Please Note

• Applicants whose experience is primarily in tunnelling should also demonstrate solid experience in bulk earthworks and civil construction, as these projects require different operating skills.
• We are seeking experienced operators who are currently working in dedicated excavator operating roles.
