Job summary

LBN Civil in Canberra is seeking an experienced Excavator Operator to join our civil construction team across Canberra and surrounding areas. The role is hands-on and requires pride in keeping equipment well maintained and working safely with a supportive crew.

You will operate excavators from 5 tonnes upward, perform earthworks, trenching, drainage works and site preparation, and you’ll be accountable for daily checks and safe operations around other workers.

Qualifications

• Experience operating excavators in civil construction.
• Holds a White Card.
• Has the appropriate excavator tickets/licences.
• Reliable, punctual and able to work with a team.

Responsibilities

• Operate excavators from 5 tonne through to larger machines.
• Conduct bulk earthworks, trenching and detailed excavation.
• Perform stormwater, drainage and sewer works.
• Contribute to roadworks and site preparation.
• Load trucks and move materials.
• Backfill, level and trim as required.
• Operate safely around services and other machinery.
• Carry out daily machine checks and keep equipment clean and well maintained.
• Follow site safety requirements and work with supervisors and other operators.

We are looking for an experienced and reliable Excavator Operator to join our team working on civil construction projects across Canberra and surrounding areas.

About the role

As an Excavator Operator, you will be operating excavators across a range of civil construction projects. Your day-to-day work may include:

• Operating excavators from 5 tonne through to larger machines
• Bulk earthworks, trenching and detailed excavation
• Stormwater, drainage and sewer works
• Roadworks and site preparation
• Loading trucks and moving materials
• Backfilling, levelling and final trimming
• Working around services and other machinery
• Carrying out daily machine checks and keeping the machine clean and well maintained
• Following site safety requirements and working safely around other workers and equipment

About you

We are looking for someone who:

• Has experience operating excavators in civil construction
• Can operate machinery confidently and safely
• Has good attention to detail
• Takes pride in their work and looks after equipment
• Is reliable, punctual and willing to get in and help the team when needed
• Can follow instructions and work well with supervisors and other operators
• Has a good attitude and is easy to work with
• Holds a White Card
• Has the appropriate excavator tickets/licences for the machinery being operated
