Job summary

AngloGold Ashanti Limited is seeking a Director Geotechnical Engineering – Open Pit to provide strategic and technical leadership across our global open pit assets. You will develop geotechnical options, manage complex workstreams, and mentor teams across international units.

The role requires on-site presence with international travel to diverse operations, including preparation to work in multiple countries. A post-graduate geotechnical mining degree and 15+ years of experience are essential.

Qualifications

• Post-graduate degree in mining-related geotechnical engineering.
• 15+ years of geotechnical engineering experience in mining.
• Strong understanding of exploration, mine development and mining activities.

Responsibilities

• Provide expert open pit geotechnical leadership across global assets.
• Lead development and implementation of geotechnical standards and processes.
• Contribute to business plans and strategic analyses with risk assessment.
• Ensure geotechnical designs and mine plans meet standards and identify gaps.
• Lead and develop geotechnical teams and coach staff.
• Drive knowledge sharing, innovation, and industry research.
