Job summary

FedEx in Sydney is seeking a Customs Clearance Agent to ensure fast, compliant processing of imports and exports. You’ll identify issues before they impact delivery and work with customers and authorities to resolve complex clearance matters, keeping shipments moving efficiently.

You will review documents, prepare declarations, and liaise with regulators while supporting Operations, Customer Service and Sales to deliver exceptional service and maintain accurate records.

Qualifications

• Current Driver's Licence (mandatory).
• Ability to perform manual handling tasks as required.
• Willingness to undertake occasional driving duties as part of the role.
• Strong knowledge of customs regulations, procedures and trade compliance.
• Excellent attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.
• Strong problem-solving and organisational skills.
• Effective communication and stakeholder management skills.
• Intermediate Microsoft Office and computer skills.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced operational environment.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate and manage customs clearance activities for import and export shipments.
• Review customs documentation including invoices, bills of lading, packing lists, permits and other trade documents.
• Prepare and submit accurate customs declarations within required timeframes.
• Liaise with customs authorities and other regulatory agencies to facilitate shipment clearance and resolve issues.
• Build strong relationships with customers, freight forwarders and internal stakeholders to ensure shipments move efficiently through the network.
• Investigate and resolve customs, compliance and documentation issues before they impact service commitments.
• Monitor changes in customs regulations, tariff schedules and trade compliance requirements, providing accurate guidance to customers and internal teams.
• Maintain accurate records and documentation in accordance with company policies and regulatory requirements.
• Collaborate closely with Operations, Customer Service and Sales teams to deliver exceptional service outcomes.
• Identify process improvement opportunities and contribute to operational excellence initiatives.
