Job summary

Blue Mountains City Council seeks a GIS professional to provide advanced spatial analysis, modelling and geospatial data development, joining a dedicated GIS team in Sydney. You will help manage the GIS environment and contribute to ongoing capability improvements across planning, asset and environmental projects.

The role requires tertiary qualifications in spatial analysis or equivalent, with proven GIS software knowledge (MapInfo and QGIS) and strong problem-solving and requirements gathering

This position will join Council's GIS team and will help to provide advanced spatial analysis, modelling and geospatial data development services. It will assist in managing and maintaining the Council's GIS environment and infrastructure and help to deliver ongoing improvements in our GIS capabilities.

The successful candidate will work on a mixture of business lead GIS projects to support planning, asset, infrastructure and environmental teams as well as technical projects to improve our GIS infrastructure.

Tertiary qualifications relevant to the position, or equivalent experience in spatial analysis or geospatial role. Proven knowledge and experience in the use of GIS software tools (Council currently utilises MapInfo and QGIS) to deliver spatial analysis and data. Strong problem-solving background and experience in understanding and documenting business requirements.

Remuneration: base salary commencing at $100,301 gross per annum
+ 12% superannuation
+ annual performance-based salary increases / bonus (1-3.5%)
+ annual award increase
