Job summary

Frazer Tremble is recruiting for a Geospatial Information Officer for a leading local government organisation in Melbourne. You will maintain enterprise GIS, assist business users, and deliver mapping services across a diverse project portfolio.

The role offers exposure to ArcGIS Pro and QGIS, spatial analysis, data management, and stakeholder engagement within a collaborative team environment.

Qualifications

• Experience with GIS applications and spatial datasets.
• Understanding of spatial data management principles.
• Local Government experience is valued but not essential.

About the Role

As Geospatial Information Officer, you will provide operational support across the enterprise GIS environment while working closely with the Geospatial Lead and Geospatial Specialist.

You'll play a critical role in maintaining spatial datasets, supporting business users, delivering mapping services and contributing to the ongoing development of the organisation's GIS capability.

This position is ideal for a GIS professional looking to broaden their technical skills while working across a diverse and interesting portfolio of projects.

Duties – A Day in the Life

• Support the administration and configuration of GIS applications
• Assist users with mapping, reporting and GIS-related requests
• Create high-quality maps, visualisations and spatial reports
• Capture, maintain and quality assure corporate spatial datasets
• Support asset management initiatives through spatial data collection and reporting
• Manage GIS helpdesk requests and provide end-user support
• Conduct spatial and demographic analysis for business stakeholders
• Maintain cadastral and property-related spatial information
• Develop user guides and support GIS training activities
• Assist with the ongoing enhancement of enterprise GIS systems and processes

Skills & Experience

• Experience working with GIS applications and spatial datasets
• Strong capability with ArcGIS Pro and QGIS
• Understanding of spatial databases and spatial data management principles
• Experience producing mapping, reporting and spatial analysis outputs
• Strong customer service and stakeholder engagement skills
• Ability to manage competing priorities and work independently
• Exposure to asset management datasets or infrastructure environments is advantageous
• Tertiary qualifications in GIS, Geospatial Science or a related field preferred
• Local Government experience highly regarded but not essential
• Exposure to a broad range of GIS projects and stakeholders
