Job summary

Blue Mountains City Council in Katoomba NSW seeks a temporary GIS Analyst for six months to join our GIS team. You will deliver advanced spatial analysis, modelling and geospatial data development services, supporting planning, asset, infrastructure and environmental teams.

The role requires tertiary qualifications in spatial analysis or equivalent GIS experience, with knowledge of MapInfo and QGIS, and the ability to understand and document business requirements.

Job description

Blue Mountains City Council – Katoomba NSW

Please note: This is position is temporary for 6 months and is only open to Australian residents or those already with working rights.

This position will join Council’s GIS team and will help to provide advanced spatial analysis, modelling and geospatial data development services. It will assist in managing and maintaining the Council’s GIS environment and infrastructure and help to deliver ongoing improvements in our GIS capabilities.

The successful candidate will work on a mixture of business lead GIS projects to support planning, asset, infrastructure and environmental teams as well as technical projects to improve our GIS infrastructure.

Tertiary qualifications relevant to the position, or equivalent experience in spatial analysis or geospatial role. Proven knowledge and experience in the use of GIS software tools (Council currently utilises MapInfo and QGIS) to deliver spatial analysis and data. Strong problem-solving background and experience in understanding and documenting business requirements.

Remuneration

base salary commencing at $100,301 gross per annum

• + 12% superannuation


• + annual performance-based salary increases / bonus (1-3.5%)
