Job summary

Blue Mountains City Council in Katoomba NSW is seeking a GIS Analyst (6 months temporary) to join the GIS team and deliver advanced spatial analysis, modelling and geospatial data development services.

The role supports planning, asset, infrastructure and environmental teams, maintains the GIS environment, and works on business lead GIS projects. A tertiary qualification in spatial analysis or equivalent is required, with MapInfo and QGIS experience.

Qualifications

• Degree or equivalent experience in spatial analysis or geospatial role.
• Experience with GIS software tools (MapInfo and QGIS) to deliver spatial analysis and data.
• Strong problem-solving background and ability to document business requirements.

This position will join Council’s GIS team and will help to provide advanced spatial analysis, modelling and geospatial data development services. It will assist in managing and maintaining the Council’s GIS environment and infrastructure and help to deliver ongoing improvements in our GIS capabilities.

The successful candidate will work on a mixture of business lead GIS projects to support planning, asset, infrastructure and environmental teams as well as technical projects to improve our GIS infrastructure.

Tertiary qualifications relevant to the position, or equivalent experience in spatial analysis or geospatial role. Proven knowledge and experience in the use of GIS software tools (Council currently utilises MapInfo and QGIS) to deliver spatial analysis and data. Strong problem-solving background and experience in understanding and documenting business requirements.

Remuneration: base salary commencing at $100,301 gross per annum
+ 12% superannuation
+ annual performance-based salary increases / bonus (1-3.5%)
+ annual award increase
