Job summary

Central Coast Council in New South Wales seeks a Spatial Analyst to deliver geospatial information services and support standards across council assets. You will develop and maintain spatial data, perform analyses and map production, and advise internal partners on spatial tech.

Some field checks with GPS may be required. The role offers a permanent full-time position with a 9-day fortnight, hybrid and flexible working, and located at Wyong Administration Building.

Qualifications

  • Degree in Geospatial Information Services, Information Technology or related field, or substantial contemporary experience with ongoing development.
  • Experience using Esri suite, ArcGIS Desktop or equivalent, CAD packages, database management systems and SQL Server.
  • Experience capturing and maintaining geospatial data in local government or utilities or state government.
  • Ability to analyse, tabulate and clearly present data and findings.
  • Ability to set priorities and deliver work to service levels, timeframes and quality standards.
  • Ability to read and interpret design plans and drawings.
  • Experience using asset management and electronic document management systems.
  • Strong customer service, teamwork, problem-solving and communication skills, including explaining spatial technology to non-technical customers.

Job description

Reporting to the Senior Spatial Analyst, the Spatial Analyst delivers innovative geospatial information services to Council's customers and supports the management and provision of geospatial information, systems, services and standards.

You will develop and maintain spatial data, databases and applications, undertake analysis and map production, support internal business partners and provide practical advice on spatial technology. The role may also undertake field inspections using GPS equipment to verify and accurately capture Council asset information.

To be successful in this role, you will have:

  • A degree qualification in Geospatial Information Services, Information Technology or a related field, or substantial contemporary experience in a similar role combined with ongoing professional development.
  • Demonstrated experience using the Esri suite of products, particularly ArcGIS Desktop or equivalent, computer-aided drafting packages, database management systems and SQL Server.
  • Experience capturing and maintaining geospatial data in local government, utilities, state government or another relevant industry, including GPS field capture.
  • Demonstrated ability to analyse, tabulate and clearly present data and findings.
  • The ability to set priorities, work within program constraints and deliver work to agreed service levels, timeframes and quality standards.
  • The ability to read and interpret design plans and drawings.
  • Experience using asset management and electronic document management systems.
  • Strong customer service, teamwork, problem-solving and communication skills, including the ability to explain spatial technology to non-technical customers.

The commencing salary for this position is up to $86,560k Central Coast Council also provides progression opportunities for employees to progress up to the maximum salary of $100,293k on completion of assessment of skills and performance plus 12% superannuation
