Job summary

The Wests Group Australia is seeking a Front of House Team Leader to lead and support our Catering team in Newcastle and surrounding areas. You’ll coordinate floor operations, patisserie, servery and till areas, ensuring excellent customer service and smooth service flow.

You’ll supervise shifts, uphold high standards of presentation, cleanliness and food safety, and work hands-on with the team to deliver top hospitality experiences during busy periods.

Qualifications

• Experience supervising hospitality teams.
• Strong customer service and communication skills.
• Good organizational and problem‑solving abilities.
• Understanding of food safety, hygiene and cleaning standards.
• Ability to lead by example and work collaboratively.

Responsibilities

• Lead and support Front of House team members during shifts.
• Coordinate staff coverage across floor, patisserie, servery and till areas.
• Allocate daily duties and ensure tasks are completed.
• Provide friendly, professional and efficient service.
• Monitor workflow and assist during peak service times.
• Keep customer areas clean, stocked, and presentable.
• Support till operations and payment procedures.
• Maintain food safety, hygiene and cleanliness standards.
• Coordinate opening, service and end-of-shift close-down.
• Complete and verify operational and close-down checklists.
• Address customer inquiries and feedback promptly.
• Keep Catering Manager informed of staffing and service matters.
