Job summary

Greensteel Rockhampton is seeking a Front Counter Sales Representative to be the face of our branch, assisting trade professionals, builders, farmers, and DIY customers with enquiries, quotations, and sales while delivering high-level service.

You'll greet customers, prepare quotations, process sales, follow up opportunities, build relationships, and maintain product knowledge across steel and building materials. A busy but rewarding role in a local, supportive team.

Qualifications

• Excellent customer service and communication skills.
• Sales-driven with a proactive approach to follow-up opportunities.
• Experience in retail, front counter sales, customer service, or internal sales.
• Confident using computers and point-of-sale systems.
• Strong attention to detail and good organisational skills.
• Able to thrive in a busy team environment.

Responsibilities

• Greet and assist customers at the front counter.
• Prepare quotations and process sales orders.
• Follow up customer quotations to maximise sales opportunities.
• Proactively identify and pursue sales opportunities with new and existing customers.
• Build and maintain strong customer relationships to encourage repeat business.
• Handle phone and email enquiries.
• Process EFTPOS and cash transactions.
• Coordinate customer orders with the warehouse team.
• Maintain accurate customer records and sales information.
• Maintain product knowledge across steel and building materials range.
• Ensure the showroom and front counter are clean, organised, and welcoming.

About the Role

As our Front Counter Sales Representative, you'll be the first point of contact for customers visiting our branch. You'll assist trade professionals, builders, farmers, and DIY customers with enquiries, quotations, and sales while delivering a high level of customer service. Experience in the steel, hardware, building supplies, construction, or rural and agricultural industries will be viewed favourably but is not essential, as full product training will be provided.
