Job summary

Kinglake Farms Pty Ltd in Kinglake VIC is seeking a full-time Forklift Driver to support packing shed and cold storage operations, packing premium blueberries for domestic supermarkets. You will operate forklift controls to lift and move bins, transport harvests between orchards and packing lines, and perform routine maintenance.

A current forklift licence and AQF Cert II/III with the specified experience are required.

Qualifications

• AQF Cert II/III with 1.5 years (20+ hours/week) post-qualification experience; OR
• 2 years (38+ hours/week) relevant experience may substitute for formal qualification.
• Current Forklift licence.
• Ability to work with minimal supervision and flexible hours.

Responsibilities

• Operate forklift controls to lift, stack, load, and unload bins in packing shed and cold storage.
• Transport harvested fruit, empty bins, pallets, and packaging materials between orchards, cool rooms, and packing lines.
• Position forklifts to safely move produce and materials in confined areas such as loading bays and storage sheds.
• Ensure bins and pallets are placed in correct storage areas for easy identification, grading, and dispatch.
• Monitor forklift performance and check for wear or faults; report issues to supervisors.
• Perform routine servicing and minor maintenance to ensure safe operation.

Job Description

Kinglake Farms Pty Ltd is a large family-run horticulture business with operations in Kinglake VIC and Rosewood NSW. The company specialises in growing and packing premium blueberries for domestic distribution to the national supermarkets. The business is seeking a full-time qualified Forklift Driver. The salary offered is $79,423 per annum plus superannuation. The Forklift Driver will be responsible for the following duties:

• Operate forklift controls to lift, stack, load, and unload bins of fruit in the packing shed and cold storage areas.
• Transport harvested fruit, empty bins, pallets, and packaging materials between orchards, cool rooms, and packing lines.
• Position and align forklifts to safely move produce and materials in confined areas such as loading bays and storage sheds.
• Ensure fruit bins and pallets are placed in correct storage areas for easy identification, grading, and dispatch.
• Monitor forklift performance and operating conditions through visual checks and instrument gauges.
• Inspect forklifts daily to identify signs of wear, mechanical faults, or damage, and report any issues to supervisors.
• Perform routine servicing, minor maintenance, and adjustments to forklifts to ensure safe and efficient operation.

The Forklift Driver is required to have the following qualifications and experience:

• A relevant AQF Cert II or equivalent AND 1.5 years (20+ hours per week) relevant post-qualification experience; OR
• A relevant AQF Cert III or equivalent AND 1 year (20+ hours per week) relevant post-qualifications experience; OR
• 2 years (38+ hours per week) of relevant experience may substitute formal qualification.

The Forklift Driver will have the following qualities and skills:

• Experienced with operating forklifts, tractors and other farming equipment.
• Sound knowledge of machinery and strong mechanical aptitude.
• Previous experience in the horticulture sector is highly desirable.
• Current Forklift licence.
• Ability to work with minimal supervision.
• Flexibility with working hours.
• Excellent communication skills with staff members.
• Strong teamwork and leadership skills.
