Job summary

Brown Contractors is seeking an experienced Float Driver / Multi-Skilled Plant Operator to join our road construction team. Based from our Depo at Moore in the Somerset Region, you will transport heavy plant and may operate trucks and machinery on projects. Some away work will be required.

Your duties include loading, securing and unloading heavy road construction equipment and ensuring load restraint and safety compliance on every job.

Qualifications

• Current heavy vehicle licence and proven float operation experience.
• Experience loading and unloading road construction equipment.
• Understanding of load restraint and heavy vehicle safety requirements.
• Construction White Card holder and safety-conscious attitude.
• Willingness to undertake away work when required.

Responsibilities

• Transport road construction plant and equipment between depots and sites.
• Load, secure, transport and unload heavy machinery safely.
• Operate trucks and plant when float work is not required.
• Travel to project locations as needed for work.

Float Driver / Multi-Skilled Plant Operator

Brown Contractors is seeking an experienced Float Driver / Multi-Skilled Plant Operator to join our road construction team.

Based from our Depo at Moore in the somerset Region.

This is a varied role suited to someone who is confident transporting heavy plant and is also willing and able to assist with operating trucks and machinery on our projects.

About the Role

Your primary responsibility will be transporting road construction plant and equipment between our depots and project sites. You must have proven experience safely loading, securing, transporting and unloading heavy road construction machinery.

When float work is not required, you may operate:

• Truck and dogs
• Water carts
• Tippers and other heavy vehicles
• Road construction plant and equipment suited to your qualifications and experience

Some away work will be required depending on project locations and operational needs.

What We're Looking For

Applicants must have:

• A current appropriate heavy vehicle licence
• Proven experience operating a float and transporting heavy plant
• Strong experience loading and unloading road construction equipment
• A sound understanding of load restraint and heavy vehicle safety requirements
• Construction industry experience
• A current Construction White Card
• A reliable, safety-focused and practical attitude
• The ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Willingness to undertake away work when required

Multiple plant tickets, truck licences and experience across road construction activities will be highly regarded.
