Job summary

Brown Contractors is seeking an experienced Float Driver / Multi-Skilled Plant Operator to join our road construction team. The role involves transporting heavy plant between depots and sites and may include operating trucks and other equipment on projects.

You will be based at our depots with occasional away work. A current heavy vehicle licence and White Card are essential, along with proven float experience and a focus on safety and load restraint.

Qualifications

• Current heavy vehicle licence is required.
• Proven experience operating a float and transporting heavy plant.
• Experience loading and unloading road construction equipment.
• Knowledge of load restraint and heavy vehicle safety requirements.
• Construction industry experience and a valid White Card.
• Reliable, safety-focused and capable to work independently or in a team.
• Willingness to undertake away work when required.

Responsibilities

Float Driver / Multi-Skilled Plant Operator

Brown Contractors is seeking an experienced Float Driver / Multi-Skilled Plant Operator to join our road construction team.

This is a varied role suited to someone who is confident transporting heavy plant and is also willing and able to assist with operating trucks and machinery on our projects.
Based out of our depo at Moore in the Somerset Region.

About the Role

Your primary responsibility will be transporting road construction plant and equipment between our depots and project sites. You must have proven experience safely loading, securing, transporting and unloading heavy road construction machinery.

When float work is not required, you may operate:

• Truck and dogs
• Water carts
• Tippers and other heavy vehicles
• Road construction plant and equipment suited to your qualifications and experience

Some away work will be required depending on project locations and operational needs.

• A current appropriate heavy vehicle licence
• Proven experience operating a float and transporting heavy plant
• Strong experience loading and unloading road construction equipment
• A sound understanding of load restraint and heavy vehicle safety requirements
• Construction industry experience
• A current Construction White Card
• A reliable, safety-focused and practical attitude
• The ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Willingness to undertake away work when required

Multiple plant tickets, truck licences and experience across road construction activities will be highly regarded.
