Job summary

Norwest Private Hospital in Bella Vista is seeking an experienced Clinical Coder to join our Health Information Services team. This on-site role focuses on accurate inpatient coding and supporting quality improvement initiatives.

The successful candidate will bring 5+ years in acute hospital coding, HIMAA certification (or equivalent), and strong organisational and communication skills to manage a flexible caseload across evenings and weekends if required.

Qualifications

• HIMAA Certification in Clinical Coding (or equivalent).
• Minimum 5 years' clinical coding experience within an acute hospital setting.
• Strong organisational skills with the ability to prioritise and manage competing demands.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Perform accurate and timely clinical coding of inpatient episodes.
• Abstract and assign diagnostic and procedural codes in accordance with relevant standards.
• Participate in casemix analysis, education, and quality improvement activities.
• Support clinical documentation improvement initiatives.
• Contribute to coding audits and other quality assurance activities as required.
