Job summary

Norwest Private Hospital in Bella Vista is seeking an experienced Clinical Coder to join our Health Information Services team. The role is onsite at our Bella Vista campus, with paper-based records and independent work alongside key stakeholders to ensure accurate coding of inpatient episodes.

We require HIMAA certification with at least 5 years of acute hospital coding experience. You will engage in casemix analysis, quality improvement activities, and coding audits within a collaborative,

• Excellent written and verbal communication; able to work autonomously.

About the Role

Norwest Private Hospital is seeking an experienced Clinical Coder to join our dedicated Health Information Services team.

As a paper-based hospital, this role is based onsite at our Bella Vista campus. Working independently while collaborating with key stakeholders, you will be responsible for ensuring accurate and timely clinical coding of inpatient episodes and contributing to quality improvement initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform accurate and timely clinical coding of inpatient episodes.
• Abstract and assign diagnostic and procedural codes in accordance with relevant standards.
• Participate in casemix analysis, education, and quality improvement activities.
• Support clinical documentation improvement initiatives.
• Contribute to coding audits and other quality assurance activities as required.

To be successful in this role, you will bring strong clinical coding expertise, excellent attention to detail, and the ability to effectively manage your workload in a flexible work environment.

• HIMAA Certification in Clinical Coding (or equivalent).
• Minimum 5 years' clinical coding experience within an acute hospital setting.
• Strong organiserational skills with the ability to prioritise and manage competing demands.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work autonomously as well as collaboratively within a team.
• Working knowledge of Codefinder and Turbocoder.
• Understanding of private hospital funding models.
• Experience using the WebPAS patient information system.
